The following entities constitute the local organization of GUADEC 2012:
GPUL – Linux Users and Developers Group is an non profit organization that has as its main objective the promotion of Free Software. With almost 15 years of history, GPUL has more than 300 associates, mainly students, teachers and graduates of the Faculty of Computer Science. GPUL is the main organization with the University of A Coruña involved in the organization of GUADEC 2012 in collaboration with other associations, public administrations and local companies.
University of A Coruña
The Faculty of Computer Science of the University of a Coruña has been supporting multiple Free Software initiatives for several years in collaboration with GPUL. This is the place where GUADEC 2012 will be held and has 25 years of history in Coruña. The Dean of the Faculty and the Rector of the University have shown commitment and support of the institution to the candidacy of GPUL to organize GUADEC.
Igalia, company member of the Advisory Board of the GNOME Foundation will provide the needed help to support the organization of GUADEC. Igalia will be proud to show why the company's headquarters are in Coruña, a beautiful city surrounded by the sea. Igalia's members will help the organization of the conference and will continue to contribute to GUADEC as part of their support of the GNOME Foundation.
GNOME Hispano has supported all the GNOME events that were organized by the Spanish speaking community. GNOME Hispano will help the organization of the next GUADEC, contributing in the economical management and with the experience of having supported the editions of Seville, Vilanova i la Geltrú and Gran Canaria.
GHANDALF is an association that promotes and spreads the Free Software philosophy. GHANDALF has contributed in the organization of different events such as the GNOME 3.0 Launch Party in Coruña. Its members are completely committed in supporting GUADEC.
Xunta de Galicia
Xunta de Galicia is the Regional Goverment of Galicia, the region in the North-West of Spain. Xunta de Galicia has sent a letter supporting this bid for next GUADEC in Coruña. The Xunta de Galicia has contributed with different activities organized by the Free Software Community and is deploying the project Abalar, with more than 30.000 netbooks for students in elementary school using GNOME Desktop.
